What Is A Pit Bike?

What is a pit bike? This form of biking is not as well known as its more popular cousin, the dirt bike. However it has recently caught our attention, getting much buzz on the World Wide Web. What exactly are pit bikes, and why should we get excited about them? During the 1950s, mechanics assigned in the racetrack needed to get around the racetracks quickly in case of accidents, thus the little pit bike was created for this purpose. It’s the perfect way to zoom around the track. Thus, it became very popular among pit crews and racers as well.

Pit bikes or pocket bikes if you prefer are a smaller version of dirt bikes or MX bikes. It was originally designed for entertainment and leisurely thrills. Because they are lighter in weight and smaller in size, they can be easy and fun especially when navigating through tight areas.

If you are more into light entertainment and don’t have much space to play and bike around, the pit bike will be perfect for you. Also, this means that you can easily store them without using up too much storage space. Oh, and did we mention that pit bikes cost considerably less than standard dirt bikes. Dirt bikes are known to be noisy, bulky and dangerous. The pit bike is basically the mini me version of these dirtbikes.

Pitbikes are specially made for beginners; particularly those not very well experienced with motorcycles. This type of bike is extremely easy to handle and maneuver. In fact, children can get into these bikes and I highly recommend it as a starting bike for youngsters. It is lower to the ground, plus doesn’t run as fast to cause any serious injury. It’s the perfect way for children to start especially if they want to learn how to ride. Just make sure your child is equipped with all the necessary safety precautions and protective clothing like helmet, shin pads and elbow pads before they start riding.

There are several kinds of pit bike models, according to its power. The racing mini bikes have the highest power and great for those with professional racing in mind. But for the beginners who are still starting out, a two-stoke pocket bike will be enough. This bike is not that fast, but great at accelerating speeds and can drive on all kinds of terrain. So when you go pit bike shopping, know your needs, wants and preferences first.

Because of the convenience found in pocket bikes, it has started a following from many around the world. Now, the pit bike sport has their own classes, races and circuits like what their bigger cousins have . Some enthusiasts spend a lot of time and money tricking their pit bike motors to become faster, louder and more powerful. There’s serious competition out there among their fans, with races being held at least once a week. There are several hundred websites dedicated to this growing hobby are sprouting like wildfire.

Childs Go Carts

We all live in a world where the day’s routine and bore is hated. Nowadays, people need new and more extreme sports which can “feed” their hunger for adrenaline jump. As a response of the desire, there are coming up lots of new hobbies which grabs the attention of everyone who is looking for getting shivers and trembles. One of those sports is childrens go carting. Go carts are a four wheeled vehicles getting very popular among the young and everyone who is searching for adrenaline. They come in a variety of ways including pedal carts, battery powered electric carts and of course petrol go karts.

The parents are into it as much as the kids and that is evident when you see how much involvement the parents want to have. As well they should because this can be a dangerous hobby for anyone especially young children. A small go cart for kids is typically about 50 cc which is perfect for that age. The speed is not too much to handle or to get really injured. Safety is the number one priority among young kids and the top speed on those is usually about 8 to 15 mph.

There are gas and electric go carts for kids on the market. The electric versions are pretty much the safest avenue to take as there are no combustible parts and no pollutants given off. Electric go karts are less on maintenance than gas powered karts and therefore cheaper to operate. Rising gas prices is another issue and with the economy many are looking to electric carts and cars for that matter.

New and used go carts for kids can be found in your local area as well as the internet. I highly suggest buying used first to see if your child takes a certain interest or liking. It is easy to find a cart in your area just look at local classifieds in your newspaper or try Craigslist. ATV trader is also a good place to go as well as local yard sales. Remember to do your homework and if you can take a mechanic with you to look at a potential purchase before you make a decision. Not all sellers are honest so look the go cart over and also ask to take a test drive.

Pocket Bikes vs Go Carts

Go carts are an obsession for more and more people and the number seems to increase as the time goes by. There is nothing wrong with that as that type of sport is far less dangerous than some others and gives a lot of adrenaline as well. Two wheeled Motorsports such as pit bikes or dirt bikes are far more dangerous for broken bones and head injuries.  The pit bikes are more like miniature street bikes. The look like a street bike or crotch rocket as they are referred to but on a much smaller scale. They still can run as much faster than you think but far less dangerous than a regular full size street bike. These are good for younger teenagers or kids to try out on before they make the leap to a large bike.

The same can be said for go carts. Adult go carts are large and have bigger engines allowing them to run as fast as 60 mph. You would not want your child to be driving this until they are at the age where experience comes in to play. They need practice on the small go carts that only run a mere 10 mph or so. This is a learning curve and they need to show responsibility before they make the adrenaline junky jump to adult go cart.

Street Go Carts For Everyone

If we try to do a survey for people of what ages street go carting, we will be probably be amazed by the results. The young people (below 30) are definitely the majority go cart fans. However, there are even people above sixties and seventies which are obsessed by go carts and cannot imagine their world without them.

There are people with different social status who love street go carts. It does not matter whether you are poor or rich, famous or ordinary, respected or not- you can always turn up go carting and make it a good way for spending your free time and relax. The reason is that there is a wide variety of go cart tracks- each has different qualities and specific parameters such as quality of the overlay, length, width, maximum speed that could be reached as the last one depends on the go karts themselves also.

A 50 cc Go Cart For Children

Many children wish to get into  go karting too as they accept these “little cars” as a toy which they can play with. More frightening is the fact that some parents share the same opinion and let their kids go on their own. This is totally irresponsible as your precious children might get seriously hurt. Safety is important with your children and starting them off with a little 50 cc go cart is the ultimate safety zone.

It cannot be denied that go cart tracks are as safety as possible for the today technologies. But there are still cases of people lost control of the go cart and collided into the painted tires (in the best case). This could be very dangerous, especially for children. That is why you should never allow your children to drive a go cart by themselves. Not until they have the motor skills to control it at all times no matter what the speed. Speed is something even the 50 cc go carts can get you in trouble with.

Finding Cheap Go Carts To Drive

Everyone can afford to go and drive go carts. Of course, if you do not have much money, you will need to accept a track of not very high quality and not very fast go carts. You will not have the opportunity to drive very fast and therefore- you will not experience the adrenaline you would get if went to more expensive go carting. This is ok for kids because cheap go carts are just as fun if you are a youngster.

What speed can be reached by the go carts? If you go to a good carting track, you may drive with more than 50kph which is a lot. Do not compare 50kph of the car with that of the go-carts. The point is that the last ones do not have a roof and the feeling is of a much greater speed. Of course, if you really would like to experience something shivering, you can find go carting tracks where much higher speed can be developed.
